A typical software selection engagement entails three phases, briefly defined as:
Phase 1: Design of a Strategic Objective Road Map that when complete will lay out the structure of the client company's current business processes and identify areas where new technology can provide potential improvements.
Phase 2: Develop an RFI (Request for Information); select the "right" product and partner.
Phase 3: Project management services for the duration of the Project.

Phase 1 - Strategic Objective Road Map
- Interview client company's management and stakeholders
- Interview client company's key employees in various departments
- Identify success criteria
- Document current business processes
- Document desired/recommended processes to achieve success criteria
- Prepare detailed business process review (BPR)
- Compare process review with "best practices" and recommend process improvements
- Evaluate the detailed business process review with client company
Phase 2 - RFI, Product and Partner Selection
- Prepare RFI in accordance with the Strategic Objective Road Map document
- Identify, contact and interview key vendors
- Conduct initial vendor reference check
- Review RFI responses with client company
- Schedule and coordinate presentations
- Prepare and deliver detailed agenda for presentations

Phase 3 - Project management services
