Technology has come a long way since the advent of the mainframe computer. As the technology has developed, the options for deploying business management software systems have expanded. The point is, you have options! And Altico Advisors is pleased to offer our clients the full range of choices available for deploying Microsoft Dynamics software.
Different companies choose different models for different reasons. By providing some basic definitions, we hope to demystify the sometimes confusing terminology that surrounds each option. Deployment Options for Microsoft Dynamics
The On-Premises Model
Until fairly recently, this was the only model available and therefore the option of choice! Simply stated, you own and are responsible for the software, the hardware (servers), and the ongoing maintenance of both. This includes upgrades, service packs, back-ups and disaster recovery plans. With the "on-prem" option, the software is installed on a server at your physical location.
The Private Cloud
In a Private Cloud model, your company's software is running on dedicated servers in a secure data center managed and supported by your Microsoft partner/cloud provider. Your Web services applications are accessed over the Internet. The fees for Private Could deployments are typically based on the number of users per month and include support as well as management of your upgrades, service packs, and backups as needed. Additional users can be added virtually instantaneuosly to accommodate your company's growing and changing needs.
The Public Cloud
If you choose the Public Cloud model, your software and shared server space reside with your cloud provider. Often referred to as a subscription model, or Software as a Service (SaaS), you typically pay a fee calculated on a per user per month basis. That fee includes software, hardware, and storage space, as well as upgrades, service packs, and backups which are executed automatically by the software provider. The Public Cloud option, which offers the ultimate in flexibility and scalability, allows you to focus on your core business while your systems are being managed and supported for you.
